Congratulations to The Memphis Challenge Graduating Class of 2008!
On Tuesday, May 6, The Memphis Challenge celebrated the graduation of the class of 2008. Twenty-nine students successfully completed a battery of professional and personal development workshops and are fully equipped to face the challenges of college life and their future careers. The MC Graduation Celebration honored their successes and commemorated their memories with words of advice and wisdom for the future.
Ashleigh Taylor, White Station High School, delivered the Senior Class Tribute with inflection, thought and spirit about their journey thus far and their future that lies ahead. She challenged her fellow Challengers to imagine how their choices will affect their future. Ms. Taylor closed by asking them to reflect upon their own comments they would deliver in 2018 at their ten year class reunion as to the accomplishments they made.
The keynote presenter, Pamela Pitts motivated and inspired the students with the topic “The Power of Want, Choice and Comfort Define SUCCESS.” Sharing anecdotes from her own life, her comments challenged the students to stretch beyond their own comfort zone and define success for themselves. Her ABC’s for Success gave students practical steps about how to achiever their dreams: from A – Avoid negative sources, people, places, things and habits – to Z – Zoom to the top.
In the Memphis Challenge Farewell, Aeron Glover, Whitehaven High School, examined the Challengers’ preparation for life as a seven day journey. According to Mr. Glover’s comments, “The Memphis Challenge has equipped us with strategies essential to prospering in a world that tests the will of the weak. However, one cannot classify us as weak. For we have experienced The Memphis Challenge.”
Kudos to the Class of 2008! We applaud your success and we look forward to the day that you take your rightful place as inspiring and developing future leaders.
